|I recently followed the Jr Titans team down to Rockville, MD for a set of away games vs Team Maryland. As many of you know, I enjoy shooting ice hockey because of the challenge, not only to capture your subject, but to do so in terrible lighting at a fast pace. In my ongoing quest to find a new sports DSLR body, I rented the 1D Mark III for the weekend. And, while the EOS body was released 5 years ago (02/21/2007), I was very pleased with the results. The 10.1 MP APS-H sensor with 19 cross type AF points was true performer even with a max ISO of 3200. The majority of the shots were taken at 1/500s f2.8 ISO 3200 with the EF 70-200 f2.8L (non IS). This gallery is further proof of 1) not needing the latest and greatest camera body/tech to nail a shot and 2) the professional quality of a 1D Canon EOS DSLR.
